Dear Adrian,

Thank you for your email requesting data pertaining to deaths due to
COVID-19 vaccine and average COVID-19 deaths.

I am writing to confirm that the Office for National Statistics has now
completed its search for the information which you requested and the
response can be found here:

You Asked:

What information have you got on Covid19 deaths since the vaccination
program started?

What information have you got on how many people have died from covid19
after the vaccination?

What is the average age of the people dying from covid19 from February
2020?

What is the average age of the people dying from covid19 since February
2021?

We Said:

Thank you for your enquiry.

1. COVID-19 deaths since vaccination program began

We are currently developing our analytical plans with an intention to
publish detailed vaccination statistics soon. Once we have finalised these
plans a publication date will be announced on our [1]Release Calendar.

As such, the information you have requested is considered exempt under
Section 22(1) of the Freedom of Information Act 2000, whereby information
is exempt from release if there is a view to publish the information in
the future. Furthermore, as a central government department and producer
of official statistics, we need to have the freedom to be able to
determine our own publication timetables. This is to allow us to deal with
the necessary preparation, administration and context of publications. It
would be unreasonable to consider disclosure when to do so would undermine
our functions.

This exemption is subject to a public interest test. We recognise the
desirability of information being freely available and this is considered
by ONS when publication schedules are set in accordance with the Code of
Practice for Statistics. The need for timely data must be balanced against
the practicalities of applying statistical skill and judgement to produce
the high quality, assured data needed to inform decision-making. If this
balance is incorrectly applied, then we run the risk of decisions being
based on inaccurate data which is arguably not in the public interest.
This will have an impact on public trust in official statistics in a time
when accuracy of official statistics is more important to the public than
ever before.

You can find deaths involving COVID-19  and all cause deaths are split by
five-year age bands in  in our [2]weekly deaths dataset. This data set is
updated every Tuesday.

2. COVID-19 deaths after receipt of COVID-19 Vaccine.

Please see attached FOI response which will answer your enquiry.

[3]Deaths following receipt of the COVID-19 vaccine by age, underlying
conditions and location - Office for National Statistics

3. COVID-19 average age of death

The age distribution of deaths involving COVID-19, all deaths, and the
five-year average for all deaths can be found in the following
publication: [4]Weekly death registrations publication. There is also

We have published an [6]ad hoc statement showing that the mean and median
