Council Tax Liability Orders

Dear Erewash Borough Council,

Please detail the amount of liability orders issued per year, each year for the last 5 financial years, obtained for unpaid council tax. Please also state how many Attachment of Earnings, and Attachment of Benefits orders were issued for these years.

Please also detail your policy on making special payment arrangements for liability orders, for example if someone cannot pay by the end of the financial year.

Freedom of Information Act 2000 - Request for Information

 

I am writing in respect of your recent enquiry for information held by the
Authority under the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

 

Having consulted our Revenues department on your specific request they
inform me:

 

Information requested on the attached spreadsheet. With regard to the
question of Special Arrangements - we try to ensure that arrangements made
clear the account by the end of the financial year. However we recognise
that sometimes this is not going to be possible and in those circumstances
we instruct the customer to contact us when the new year bill is received
in order that any remaining balance of arrears can be repaid AS WELL AS to
ongoing instalments. We also ask for a financial statement (income and
expenditure) if arrangements extend past the financial year.
