Thank you for your recent enquiry which was given the above reference
number.
How many council tax accounts in arrears, where a claimant has deductible
benefit has your authority sent to the DWP to have deductions made from
their benefit, to pay off arrears on their council tax account?
We don’t hold this information, however, we use software to identify any
accounts which are in receipt of a deductible benefit to allow us to make
application to the DWP for deductions. This process is undertaken 4
weekly and we currently have deductions being taken for 2321 individual
Council Tax accounts which are in arrears.
If you are dissatisfied with the handling of your request you can ask for
a review. A request for a review must be submitted within 40 working days
and should be put in writing to Deborah McVey, Information Governance Team

remain dissatisfied after a review, you have the right to apply to the
