Dear Mr Stringer,

Thank you for your Freedom of Information request. The answers to your
questions are as follows:

Have there been any occasions where council members throughout Dorset
council have used their work computer to access or store porn throughout
the last year?

No – in the past 12 month period, no County Councillors have used Dorset
County Council-issued ICT equipment. The County Council uses a 'Bring Your
Own Device' (BYOD) Scheme which is linked with the [1]Members Allowances
Scheme (section 3) which includes the present average cost of a
tablet/notebook, spread over the four year electoral cycle.

Essentially we provide no devices, and promote the use of personal devices
through the BYOD scheme. Councillors are given access to the Council's
systems on their own device through a Mobile Device Management
solution. When using any application on the device which is
Council-managed, there is appropriate web filtering in place to prevent
this type of content being accessed. In terms of personal use of their own
device, we have no control or knowledge of what is accessed.

If councillors use computers that are on Council premises (e.g. a fixed
desk PC), they are also subject to web filtering which blocks all Adult
Content websites.

Have there been any documented occasions of council members being caught
accessing or storing porn on their work computers? If so what was the
outcome?

No.

If you are not completely satisfied with our response, please contact us
again, or write to the complaints officer at: Dorset County Council,
County Hall, Colliton Park, Dorchester, Dorset DT1 1XJ. Or you can follow
the complaints procedure on our website that can be found [2]here. If your
appeal is not resolved to your satisfaction, you have the right to apply
to the Information Commissioner for a decision.

Yours sincerely,
