Dear Mr Parkhill

Freedom of Information request - Council Expenditure on Events in the
Community

Please accept our apologies for the delay in coming back to you. We have
been considering your FOI request and while we are always happy to respond
as best we can, this one is causing us a few difficulties in concluding
exactly what you are seeking /looking for.

Could we ask you to provide greater clarity and focus for your request?
“Events organized for the community” can cover an endless range of
activity – from the likes of the Big Boston Clean UP, through craft
markets, Christmas Lights Switch On, discreet events at the Guildhall,
talks, lectures etc?? What is your definition of an ‘event’? Local Market
– Saturday and Wednesday Markets? What about all other markets? Olympic
Torch? Boston Mayfair?

We would also mention that most of our records only go back a maximum of 6
years and also depending on what you are requiring, the time involved in
collating this may well take us beyond what we can provide for you at no
cost.

Kind regards

Freedom of Information

Dear FOI,

The main issue I'm interested in the amount of money council has spent on organising special events for the community which are outside the standard Week by Week activities.

The ones I'm talking about are Boston in Bloom, Party in the Park, the Olympic torch, Christmas light switch ons and other similar one off events.

And of course the amount of money the council has received from government funding, Big Local or other charitable donations specifically intended for these sorts of community events.

Yours sincerely,

Mr H Parkhill

FOI, Boston Borough Council

Good morning Mr Parkhill, thank you for clarifying your request we will now look into this for you.

We will endeavour get a response to you by Wednesday 29th April.

Kind regards
Alex

Dear FOI,

Thank you for the details on this, although useful this doesn't have all the information I really wanted, I'd asked to see the amount of funding the Council has received from government grants, County Council Income, the Big local fund and general income (so council tax) to see how the funds have been allocated.

If you would you be able to provide those figures, that should be everything.

Yours sincerely,

Mr H Parkhill

FOI, Boston Borough Council

Dear Mr Parkhill

Thank you for your recent further enquiry. The council takes its responsibility to Freedom of Information requests seriously, and is careful to respond specifically where possible.

Your original request specifically asked for grants and funding specific to events organised in the community that the council had received.

As the council has not received any grants or funding specific to events, you were provided with the net cost of each of the events organised in the community for the last 6 years.

Your subsequent request asks for information in respect of all the funding and grants received by the council, not just those specific to events in the community.

Information relating to non-ringfenced funding and grants received in the council's general fund can be found within the council's statement of accounts that are published each year on the council's website - at http://www.boston.gov.uk/index.aspx?arti... .

We trust that the information above completes your request in full, however if we can be of any further assistance, please contact us. If you are unhappy with the service you have received in relation to your request and wish to make a complaint or request a review of the Council’s decision, you should contact Michelle Sacks, Interim Head of Customer & Democratic Services on 01205 314292 or by email at [email address]
