Costs of vandalism - Ash Ranges Complex
Dear Ministry of Defence,
Please provide any and all data and figures used to define costs and loss of range hours due to vandalism to the Ash Ranges Complex, the area currently closed to the public at all times.
I would expect to see a monthly breakdown since 2015 of
Total cost to repair damage
Hours training lost
No of repairs included in cost
Please restrict the area to the Ash Ranges Complex, rather than the wider Range Danger Area. The total figures is available in FOI 2021/04835, but as the costs are deemed commercially sensitive, I would be happy for figures specific to the Ash Ranges Complex per month.
Yours faithfully,
C Cookson
Dear C Cookson,
Your request has been logged under our reference 2021/08347 and the target date for response is 31/08/2021.

DIO Secretariat
Dear DIO Sec-Parli (MULTIUSER),
Please complete an internal review on this matter.
You do not include any costs in the table given. As there are 16 repairs included in the cost and the incidents are varied and not consistent, I do not understand how Section 43 would apply to the yearly cost of these incidents.
Specific costs would fall under this category, but I would question the public interest testing, as the MOD have repeatedly confused the public over this matter and continue to present false and misleading information in response to requests.
Providing costs for all the incidents within the years in the table, would not provide significant detail to impact the bargaining positions as the incidents are varied and not attributable to one type of resolution.
Further, the MOD has provided yearly figures for the wider area in a letter to a local councillor (linked https://ashparish.org/wp-content/uploads...). If the logic to utilise Section 43 for the wider costs has not been utilised in that letter, it should not be used now for a narrowing of the costs, but still not to specific incidents.
Yours sincerely,
C Cookson
