Cost of garden waste bins

The request was successful.

Dear Wirral Metropolitan Borough Council,

What is the total investment by WBC in the purchase of garden waste bins for each year since they were introduced and how many bins in total have been purchased?

Yours faithfully,

Cllr Ian Lewis

Cllr Lewis, I am baffled as to why you need to make an FOI request. As a local councillor representing the electorate I would expect this information to be given to you without question and without having to use the FOI legislation.......care to elaborate?

Good Afternoon

Thank you for your request, please find responses to your queries:

As requested, please find the number/cost of all brown bins purchased
since we changed from a sack collection in 2006.  The first purchase in
April 2006 relates to a combined food and garden waste GW trial which was
ceased in 2009, due to a technical issue with MWRA's composting facility.
At this point these households reverted to garden waste only.  The last
two purchases relate to expansions of the service:

Date                 Quantity                 Price             Reason
Apr-06  25000   £370,000.00             Food & Garden Trial
Sep-06  68400   £902,196.00             Garden Waste Rollout
Dec-06  8000    £105,520.00             Garden Waste Rollout
Apr-08  6100    £96,880.00              Garden Waste Expansion
Feb-12  3300    £65,884.30              Garden Waste Expansion
TOTALS  110800  £1,540,480.30

Thank you for your enquiry.

Kind regards
