Cost of Bermuda Prosecution

Llywodraeth Cymru Nid oedd gan y wybodaeth y gofynnwyd amdani.

Dear Welsh Government,

I ask to have explained, to be provided all information about, the prosecution of a local resident for offences committed in Bermuda. I wish to understand:
The decision to prosecute in Wales, not Bermuda
The cost of the proceedings in terms of resources and costs
How much the Bermuda police contributed to the cost
Who is pursuing recovery of the funds taken
Whether we will have funds reinstated
I note the Bermuda police did not attend but that an officer quoted is also named in the Paradise Papers according to a report at www.bermudapolice.com

Yours faithfully,

Rhys Evans

Llywodraeth Cymru

Dear Welsh Government,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

You say 'Welsh Government has had no involvement with the prosecution and therefore no information is held. '

You may not have had any involvement but surely there was some discussion with Wales before a decision was made to use our resources to prosecute a Bermuda loss that will see monies sought for Bermuda. It seems Wales was walked roughshod over.

£2million of monies is wanted by Bermuda, not wales. I have read the island has been investigating their own and it has cost this same amount and involves UK officers.

Why has this cost us money, why is Bermuda inept when it comes to their finances and why do you hold no information, appear unconcerned?

Who does the information? Who do i need to approach?

I am writing to request an internal review of Welsh Government's handling of my FOI request 'Cost of Bermuda Prosecution'.

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/c...

Yours faithfully,

Rhys Evans
