Copy of previous FOIA response

The request was successful.

Dear Central Scotland Police,

On or around 26/10/12 you received the following request for information.

All UK police forces received the same request and the responses about vetting have featured in a variety of national newspapers, the BBC news etc

Please don't claim another exemption that this is a matter of national security given the publicity the subject of vetting has already received and it was unfortunately linked to the death of an Assistant Chief Constable in England during that year.

I would like a copy of your response to that request please which I repeat below for ease of reference.

"1, At your force, how many of your senior officers have been vetted in accordance to the National Vetting Policy 2010? Please list the total numbers of each rank of officer at your police force and then also list the numbers of those who have been through the vetting process to provide a comparison between total numbers and currently vetted officers. (For clarity – when I say senior I mean Chief Constable, Deputy Constable and Assistant Chief Constables).

2, Please list how many senior officers are currently in the process of being vetted.

3, Please list who is responsible for vetting senior officers at your force.

4, Please send me the vetting policy document for senior officers at your police force."

Yours faithfully,

Mike Roulston

Dear Freedom Of Information,

Thank you for the quick response

I would be obliged if you could clarify the following element of the response

Assistant Chief Constable (2) - one through the vetting process and vetted
to agreed standard, due to his current status the other officer has no
requirement to be vetted at this time.

The latter officer was away from work from early June 2010 on what has been variously described as leave of absence, gardening leave and suspension from duty.

Could you please confirm his vetting status on his last working day in June 2010?

Yours sincerely,

Mike Roulston
