Dear Wan Ulfa Nur Zuhra,
Thank you for submitting an FOI request, asking for information from the University of Warwick. In order to comply with your request, please could you clarify the following:
• Please could you let us know your meaning for the term "academic misconduct" in your FOI below? Perhaps providing us with a working definition and / or examples?

• Are you seeking information for Undergraduate or Postgraduate students to fulfil your request?

• At the University of Warwick, cheating and its potential consequences are dealt with by the University’s Regulation 11 - http://www2.warwick.ac.uk/services/gov/c.... The Regulation is divided into two parts – A, which deals with cheating in examination conditions and B, which deals with cheating in essays, dissertations or any other assessed work, not taken under examination conditions.

Please note that the University is unable to provide detailed information about each incident of cheating – including the type of cheating - such as contract cheating, or further detail regarding those involved and the outcomes, as this information is not held centrally and to collate this would require obtaining the information from individual academic departments (of which there are approximately 30) which the University estimates would take in excess of the 18 hours allowed under the Freedom of Information Act. Section 12(1) of the Freedom of Information Act states that a public authority is not obliged to comply with a request for information if the authority estimates that the cost of complying with the request would exceed the appropriate limit. This is currently £450, which equates to 18 hours of staff time calculated at £25 an hour as set out in the Freedom of Information and Data Protection (Appropriate Limit and Fees).

Therefore, in your request’s current format we would be unable to answer question 2) of your request.
The University may be able to provide you with figures regarding all instances of academic misconduct without any further breakdown from the Academic Year 2012/13 – 2014/15. Currently figures regarding academic misconduct are reported on a termly basis, however prior to this termly method of reporting the University undertook its quinquennial Institutional Review of Teaching and Learning, and the existing the Annual Course Review process for the 2015/16 and 2016/17 academic year was suspended and therefore no data is held centrally available regarding these years.
If you could let us know how you would like us to proceed with your request we would be most appreciative.
We look forward to hearing from you. The University will be unable to proceed with your request until you have provided the requested information. Please note that the 20 working day statutory time limit does not begin until clarification has been received and we will close your request in 20 working days if we receive no reply.
Kind Regards
