Dear Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency,

Controversial legislation, 'Continuous Insurance' was introduced in February 2011.

1. It was intended that defaulters would be sent a reminder before being sent a fixed penalty, this is not happening and fixed penalty notices are being sent without reminders, Why?

2. Majority of motorists are still ignorant of this legislation. Why have simple steps not been taken to ensure public are aware of their obligations under this legislation, i.e. Printing warning on issue of new tax discs, or on tax reminders, or information on registration docs?

Very little publicity has been given to this legislation which leads to next question.

3. How much income has this legislation generated through penalty notices since its commencement?

Yours faithfully,

tony lowery

he response has answered all questions and with respect to revenue generation it would appear to be another 'cash cow' for the DVLA as can be seen from the figures year on year the amount raised has increased where if the public were aware of this 'legislation' the income figure should be reducing. The DVLA appear to have shirked their responsibility and duty of care to motorists by placing the onus originally on insurance Company adverts just when we are making a cuppa?
