Connections

The request was successful.

Dear West Sussex County Council,

Connections which serves young people operates (or used to) in Chapel Street Chichester, so my questions are as follows.

1/ Does it still function as Connections.

2/ Has there been any major changes to its service in the last 5 years.

3/ How much funding does it receive from WSCC, or did it receive under the last financial year of operation.

Yours faithfully,

Dear Ms Oneill

Further to your recent FOI request.  The Local Authority response is
attached below.

Connections which serves young people operates (or used to) in Chapel
Street Chichester, so my questions are as follows.

1/ Does it still function as Connections. –  Connexions was the previous
brand the information, advice and guidance (IAG) service operated under.
This has now changed to ‘Find it Out’ which is the new brand for the IAG
service operated by the Youth Support and Development Service (YSDS) as
part of WSCC.

2/ Has there been any major changes to its service in the last 5 years.
The service offered has broadly remained the same in respect of the
delivery of IAG services for young people in Chichester.  The major
difference being under the Connexions brand this included careers advice
to young people in schools.  This function is now the responsibility of
each individual school.  The IAG service operated by YSDS has now
relocated to the New Park Centre, in Chichester offering a wide range of
IAG and access to other support services.

3/ How much funding does it receive from WSCC, or did it receive under the
last financial year of operation.

2011/12 - last year of the Connexions contract -  £2.963m

2013/14 – current budget -  £673,000.

Yours sincerely

Sue Bryan

Given the current budget and the Think Family where worklessness is an issue, why is the budget reduced for young parents who cannot find work.
