Confucius Institute Arrangements

Roedd y cais yn rhannol lwyddiannus.

Dear University of Nottingham,

I am writing to request information under the FOIA 2000.

I am interested in learning about the arrangements between your organisation and Hanban, and any other organisation that is involved in setting up the Confucius Institute at your organisation.

I would like to access items such as the agreement, along with any documents detailing the arrangement between your organisation, Hanban and any other organisations involved, and any donations (monetary or otherwise) in relation to the setting up of the CI at your organisation.

Thank you for your time and I look forward to your response.

Yours faithfully,

Howard Tang

Dear Howard

I am writing further to your request for information regarding Confucius Institute arrangements. A search of our electronic and paper records has been completed.

The Nottingham Confucius Institute (NCI) was established in 2007 with the signing of the Confucius Institute Agreement between the University and the Office of Chinese Language Council International (also known as Hanban). Full details of the NCI's partners and activities are published on its webpages at https://www.nottingham.ac.uk/confucius/a...

The University of Nottingham's Chinese University partner is Fudan University who provide teachers and volunteer teachers to NCI. The principal remit of NCI is to develop and enhance education and cultural links between the UK and China through the teaching of Mandarin in schools, the University and the local community. NCI organises school visits to China with partner schools to show young people modern China and to develop personal connections with Chinese students. In addition, the NCI showcases Chinese culture through events and activities in local schools and at particular times of the year such as Chinese New Year to the local community.

If you are unhappy with the way in which your request has been handled and wish to request a review of our response or to make a complaint, please see the attached information sheet and form.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any enquiries regarding this email.

Yours sincerely,
Karen Page
