have reproduced your questions below together with SOAS’s response.
I am interested in learning about the arrangements between your
organisation and Hanban, and any other organisation that is involved in
setting up the Confucius Institute at your organisation.
I would like to access items such as the agreement contract, along with
any documents detailing the arrangement between your organisation, Hanban
and any other organisations involved, and any donations (monetary or
otherwise) in relation to the setting up of the CI at your organisation.
Please find attached the agreement between SOAS and Hanban relating to the
establishment of the London Confucius Institute, and the implementation
agreement between SOAS and Beijing Foreign Studies University.
The London Confucius Institute at SOAS University of London has received
the following funds. Please note these are not SOAS funds, rather SOAS
acted as agent/banker:
The Confucius Institute at SOAS has not received any further funding from
Funds managed by the Confucius Institute at SOAS are mainly used for the
· Tutors’ travel expenses,
· Conference expenditure (i.e. accommodation/travel/catering)
· Exam fees (Chinese Testing International Ltd)
