Complaints

Roedd y cais yn llwyddiannus.

Dear Sir or Madam,

Pre-question clarification: A complaint against a council may consist purely on an administrative error or it may also include a potentially criminal act and/or infringements of a complainants civil rights (legal and/or human rights).

Therefore, I would like the following information, over the last 12 months, as a percentage of total complaints against the council how many ended up being dealt with by,

1)the Local Government Ombudsman?

2)the Police?

3)Solicitors and/or the courts?

Yours faithfully,

Trevor R Nunn

Dear Mr Nunn

Thank you for your request for information under the Freedom of
Information Act 2000 ("the Act"). We have started looking for
information which relates to your request. The Council's Adult Social
Care ("ASC") department has come back to me asking for clarification on
two of your points though. Please could you respond to me ASAP so that
we may continue looking for your information?

Point 2 - If a social care case is being dealt with as a Police
investigation the Council would not start its complaints process until
the investigation had been completed. Do you want information on how
many complaints had also been previously investigated by the Police? Or
are you asking for complaints which resulted in police investigations
against the Council?

Point 3 - Please confirm if you mean complaints dealt with by Council
solicitors or whether Service Users have employed Solicitors to assist
them with their complaints?

Please let me know if you have any questions about this email.

Many thanks, kind regards

Sarah

Dear Mr Nunn

Apologies, but I have just received another clarification point from the
Council's Trading Standards department. Please confirm what statistics
you would like us to include. I.e. Do you want details only of the
complaints received and dealt with in the period stated? Or would you
like us to also include complaints which could have been received before
that time period but concluded by referral to one of other bodies in the
time period requested?

Please let us know, many thanks,

Kind regards

Sarah

Dear Freedom Of Information Mail,

Further to your requests for clarification.

Only complaints against the council that ended up being dealt with by the police.

By solicitor/courts I mean the complainants/users solicitor not council solicitors.

All complaints received in in the given period and all the complaints concluded in the same given period. Albeit they will be different complaints because many complaints take more than a year to resolve.

I hope the clarification helps.

Yours sincerely,

Trevor R Nunn

Dear Freedom Of Information Mail,

I appreciate that many complaints take more than a year resolve. All I am looking for is a snapshot of one particular year.

The number of complaints received within that year irrespective of when and how they were or may be dealt with.

The number complaints finalised/concluded within that year irrespective of when they were submitted.

I hope the information helps.

Yours sincerely,

Trevor R Nunn
