Gwrthodwyd y cais gan Police Scotland.

Dear Police Scotland,

Can you please detail the identity of community, voluntary and sporting groups/ organisations that have been in receipt of support from community officers based at Pollok Police Station throughout the period June 2009 until the present day.

To avoid confusion and the need for clarification: by "support", I mean advice (with regard to fundraising, establishment of an organisation etc), help in organising and policing activities/events (public fetes, sporting events and tournaments etc), providing references (professional and personal) in respect of application for funding, use of premises, validation as a legitimate public/ voluntary body etc, provision of time in respect of officers either on or off duty while this time is offered for the purpose of support, personal involvement with any of these organisations.

Where any officer has offered support as noted above, can you please identify the organisation that received said support and the identity of the officer concerned.

Yours faithfully,

Paul Hughes

Dear FOI,

Thank you for your reply.

May I confirm that you should have advised me in your reply how I could rephrase or refine the parameters of my request to come within the boundaries of the FOI legislation with respect to meeting the cost of a FOI request?

Given that this is the case, as I am sure you are aware is indeed the case, may I request the following as part of the current request:

Can you confirm the information offered by WPC Stacy Gardner with respect to a Mr Christopher Hutton receiving assistance from community officers at Pollok Police Station is accurate: that is , that he received advice and assistance during the period late 2009 and early 2010 with regard to establishing boys' football clubs in the Pollok area with the names of Glasgow FC and Whitecart United and that this advice involved sourcing funding for voluntary organisations?

Can you confirm that WPC Gardner was aware that Mr Alex Salmond MSP was listed as the Honorary Chairman of Whitecart United?

Can you further confirm that WPC Stacy Gardner was fully aware that the assistance offered to Mr Hutton throughout 2009 in regard to fundraising in respect of future boys' football clubs he wished to establish was so successful that Whitecart United travelled to a soccer camp in Florida, USA, during 2010 with a group of boys aged between 14 and 22 years of age, less than one year after the club was established? This is a fact that is recorded on the club website.

Please note, there is no need to trawl through any records or officer notebooks in respect of this request; a simple phone call to WPC Gardner, Sgt Derek Orr or Inspector Paul Quinn should be sufficient in respect of this request and should be well within the cost limitation of an FOI request.

Can you confirm the information offered by Sgt Derek Orr that Strathclyde Police, through Pollok Community Policing, assisted Mr Christopher Hutton in organising and policing the Nethercraigs Tournament in the area in 2010 (for clarification, the tournament took place during March or April 2010)?

Please note that there is no need to trawl through records or officer notebooks other than those named in this request. That should bring us within the cost guideline for a FOI request.

As far as the Nethercraigs Tournament is concerned, can you confirm how many boys under the age of sixteen attended at this tournament? An approximation will suffice, but if you can confirm a press release at the time claiming "hundreds" of teenage boys from the southside of Glasgow were in attendance, that will suffice. Operational procedures would also, of course, give an indication of numbers according to the number of officers assigned and the frequency of attendance - statistics that are routinely recorded by the former Strathclyde Police and the current Police Scotland.

May I ask also if any of the above named officers are aware of assistance offered by Pollok Community Police Officers to a Mr Steven McKerlie who established Bonnyholm Boys Club in the area during the same period (that is, during 2010)?

May I also request that you confirm that Sgt Derek Orr was aware that Mr Alex Salmond, MSP was the "Club Ambassador" of Bonnyholm Boys' Club? A check of his notebook dated between 7th and 8th June 2010 should confirm this fact, as has been confirmed by Mr Salmond's Assistant Private Secretary, Mr Patrick Berry.

Can I ask you to confirm that both Whitecart United Boys' Club and Bonnyholm Boys' Club, and websites set up to promote both, were reported to Sgt Derek Orr and WPC Stacy Gardner during May and June 2010. Again, a check of Sgt Orr's notebook from late May/ early June 2010 will confirm this.

May I ask you to confirm whether you are happy to accept my clarification as an ongoing request or if there is a need for me to submit a fresh request?

If there is a need for a fresh request, a speedy response would, of course, be appreciated.

Yours sincerely,

Paul Hughes
