Section 16 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 requires any public
authority to whom a request is made, to offer advice and assistance to the
applicant. Therefore, to satisfy this requirement the Traffic
Commissioners offer the following advice and assistance.

There are eight Traffic Commissioners within Great Britain and they are
appointed to geographic regions defined as East of England, London and
South East of England, North East of England, North West of England, West
of England, West Midlands, Wales and Scotland.

The Traffic Commissioners are independent appointees of the Secretary of
State and are responsible for the application and issue of operator
licences. They are the industry regulators for GB, in respect of the
holders of goods and passenger vehicle operator licences.

We must also advise you that Traffic Commissioners are a named public
authority within Schedule 1 Part VI of the Freedom of Information Act
2000. In line with the provisions of Section 7 of the Act, this limits the
information held by Traffic Commissioners that is in scope of the
disclosure provisions contained at Section 1(1) (a) of the Act. The
disclosure provisions of the Act apply to Traffic Commissioners only in
respect of information held by them otherwise than as a tribunal.

A search of the Traffic Commissioners records has been undertaken and we
can confirm that the Traffic Commissioners do not hold information
relevant to your request.

Although your email was sent to the Traffic Commissioners of Great
Britain, much of your request seems to come under the remit of the Driver
and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) who support the Traffic Commissioners’
statutory functions involving the regulation of transport operators within
Great Britain.  We recommend you send your request them using the email
address below.
