We have considered your request which was for

 

Please could you provide statistics about the number of people who have
attempted, successfully or unsuccessfully, to make a claim to yourselves
for vehicle damage or personal injury caused by a pothole in 2018 and so
far in 2019. If possible, I would also like to know the amount of the
compensation awarded by the Council for these aforementioned dates.

 

In the year 1^st January to 31^st December 2018 a total of 2,763 claims
were received in respect of injury or damage allegedly caused by potholes.
At the time of writing a total of £300,351 has been paid in compensation
including any third party legal costs.

 

In the year to date 1^st January to 11^th November 2019 a total of 770
claims have been received in respect of injury or damage allegedly caused
by potholes. At the time of writing a total of £22,871 has been paid in
compensation including any third party legal costs.
