Claim for pothole damage

The request was refused by Argyll and Bute Council.

Dear Argyll and Bute Council,

My wife and I stayed at Sheep Fank Cottage B&B, Musdale Road, Kilmore, Oban PA34 4XX on the nights 26 & 27th September. On returning from a meal in Oban on the night of the 27th I hit a large pothole in Musdale Road. THis resulted in a damaged front nearside tyre. We were due to leave to return home on 28th but were unable to do so as it was completely flat by then. My vehicle does not have any spare/run flat wheel and pumping the tyre was not effective. After a lot of time and effort on Saturday morning I finally succeeded in having Green Flag recover the vehicle and take it to Lochgilphead for a new tyre to be fitted. On departure it was noted that the pothole was very large indeed.
The owner of the B&B reported the incident to you against your ref # 190928-000004. She had also reported the pothole the previous day against your ref #190927-000111 (a different incident). That vehicle also having its tyre rendered useless. I also understand that this pothole had previously been reported to you prior to these incidents.

The cost of the new tyre is £110.00 which I am claiming from you as you have obviously not dealt with the issue when initially reported.

Yours faithfully,

Stan Milsom
