Civilians being Honoured in the Military Division

Main Honours Advisory Committee did not have the information requested.

Dear Main Honours Advisory Committee,

1. Please may I have all documents, legal advice and guidance showing how uniformed Cadet Force Adult Volunteers (who, despite wearing uniform, are all civilians and not part of any of Her Majesty's Armed Forces-prior to the 2017 introduction of the Cadet Forces Commission officers in the Air and Army cadets were reservists, though SNCOs were always civilians) are eligible to be appointed to the Military Division of the Most Excellent Order of The British Empire?

2. May I also have any documents as above relating to discussions about amending the statutes to better recognise cadet force adult volunteers?

If answering both questions would result in too much time/money for you to respond then please deal with 1. alone.

Yours faithfully,

Robert

Dear Mr Ward,
I have looked into your request below and I'm afraid that neither the
Cabinet Office Honours team, nor the Cabinet Office FOI team, have a
record of receiving a Freedom of Information request on Civilians being
Honoured in the Military Division. Could you please send on details of
this FOI, or any correspondence with the Cabinet Office regarding this
FOI, so that we can look into it for you as soon as possible.
Kind regards
Elizabeth Stewart

The honours nomination process

For more information about the honours process, please visit:

guidance [2]How to Write a Nomination. Alternatively you may want to watch
the following video: [3]Completing an Honours nomination form.

Update on a nomination

If your query concerns an update on a nomination that you have submitted,
please be aware that each nomination can take at least 18 months to be
fully considered, sometimes longer. We value further updates to the
nominee’s achievements, including further letters of support so please
feel free to submit them to us at any time.

Bravery and/or Gallantry Awards

If your emails concerns  a Bravery or Civilian Gallantry award, please
take this as an automatic acknowledgement that we have received your
nomination. They will be actively considered.

"The object of giving medals, stars and ribbons is to give pride and
pleasure to those who have deserved them. At the same time a distinction
is something which everybody does not possess. If all have it, it is of
less value. There must, therefore, be heartburnings and disappointments on
the borderline. A medal glitters, but it also casts a shadow. The task of
drawing up regulations for such awards is one which does not admit of a
perfect solution. It is not possible to satisfy everybody without running
the risk of satisfying nobody. All that is possible is to give the
greatest satisfaction to the greatest number and to hurt the feelings of
the fewest."  Winston Churchill
