Dear FOI Essex CCG's

Could I please have separate figures for all the Essex CCG showing how many patients have been able to access choice in secondary care mental health provider beyond Eput or their forerunner organizations/your service provider partners, between April 2014 to present?

Could you also break the figures down into years, so we can see when people have been been able to access choice in the years following 2014.

Yours faithfully,

iain

Dear FOI, Essexccgs (NHS BASILDON AND BRENTWOOD CCG),

Why do the Essex CCG's say choice is available when the essex ccgs have not allowed anyone to access the NHS provider of their choice from April 2014 to 29-04-2021
you confirmed in your last response and pasted below.

“Could I please have separate figures for all the Essex CCG showing how many patients have been able to access choice in secondary care mental health provider beyond Eput or their forerunner organizations/your service provider partners, between April 2014 to present?

Following checks in the CCGs’ records, there is no information held in response to your query.
Hence, it is a nil”.

Example of a ccg saying choice is available
https://midessexccg.nhs.uk/livewell/pati...
"If your GP needs to refer you for a physical or mental health condition, in most cases you have a legal right to choose which hospital or service you go to."

What the ccg claims on its website regarding chooice is not happening regarding mental health.
This is VERY misleading to your patients.

Dear , Essex ccg's

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Essex NHS CCG's handling of my FOI request 'Choice in secondary care mental health'.

As i am still waiting to find out why the Essex CCG's are not allowing Essex NHS patients their Legal Right to choose the mental health service provider of their choice?

As the CCGs say "If your GP needs to refer you for a physical or mental health condition, in most cases you have a legal right to choose which hospital or service you go to."

As currently the Essex ccgs insist the only way to access choice is for a patient to show clinical acceptionalty.
However exceptionality does not form part of the NHS choice process at all,
is very rare, difficult and time consuming to prove.

Therefore exceptionality is incorrectly being used as a tool by the ccgs to block patients trying to access the service provider of their choice.

According to CCG data the fact choice blocking is clear as no, 0, nil, zero patients of the Essex CCG's have been successful at showing exceptionality between April 2014 to 31-04-2021 and therefore been able to access the service provider of their choice.

Dear NHS Mid Essex Clinical Commissioning Group,

Dear NHS Mid Essex Clinical Commissioning Group,

"If your GP needs to refer you for a physical or mental health condition, in most cases you have a legal right to choose which hospital or service you go to."

What the ccg claims on its website regarding choice is not happening in mental health.
As the CCG has confirmed from its own data in the past and I am awaiting the current data.
That No, 0, Nil, Zero patients have been able to access choice previously in mental health April 2014 to summer 2021.

So this CCG webpage makes a VERY misleading statement regarding the choice to your patients.

Therefore
1, Can the CCG remove this very misleading information "in most cases" regarding mental health from its website?

Dear FOI, Essexccgs (NHS BASILDON AND BRENTWOOD CCG),

As a patient, trying to find out simple information for my NHS treatment,
This NHS has not provided the simple information request in a format I can comprehend.
I have asked the NHS previously on multiple occasions to make a reasonable adjustment due to my disabilities and answer my simple questions rather than referrer to its complex NHS procedures.

Therefore I request the NHS answer the simple foi questions I have put with eg clear none ambiguous answers eg yes or no.

As it is causing significant distress to me over a prolonged period of time and delaying my NHS treatment

Yours sincerely,

iain gordon
