Children with Autistic Spectrum Disorder
Dear Belfast Education and Library Board (Northern Ireland),
I would like to make a Freedom of Information request for the
following information;
1. Please can you give me the most up to date enrolment numbers for
each school within the NEELB area with the following information;
a) name of school b) type of school c) Postcode of school. Please
include information such as whether the school is; primary, post
primary, special, learning support / additional needs, Irish
medium, independent, any other type of school and which schools
come under the status of controlled, controlled integrated,
integrated, CCMS or any other title.
2. Please can you give me the figures for how many children in each
of the schools listed in Q1 have a statement of SEN due to any
autism spectrum condition as a primary or additional need. Please
can you break this down into; a) those with an additional cognitive
learning disability b) those without an additional cognitive
learning disability.
3. Please can you give me the figures for how many children with
any autism spectrum condition in each of the above listed schools
in Q1 are currently on the schools' SEN register stages 1 and 2.
Please can you break this down in to ; a) those with an additional
cognitive learning disability b) those without an additional
cognitive learning disability.
4. Please can you give me the figures for how many children with
any autism spectrum condition in each of the above listed schools
in Q1 are currently at stage 3 or above of the assessment process
for a statement of SEN. Please can you break this down into; a)
those with an additional cognitive learning disability b) those
without an additional cognitive learning disability.
5. Please can you give me the figures for the amount of children
with any autism spectrum condition that have been provided with
transport from the board to go to school and what areas they are
travelling from and to which schools. Please can you break this
down into; a) those with an additional cognitive learning
disability b) those without an additional cognitive learning
disability.
6. Please can you give me the figures for the amount of children
with any autism spectrum condition in each of the above listed
schools in Q1 are currently not in full time education; a) due to
their condition or something related to their condition e.g.
anxiety or behavioural issues b) how long each child has not been
in full time education. Please can you break this down into; c)
those with an additional cognitive learning disability d) those
without an additional cognitive learning disability.
7. Please can you give me the figures for the amount of children
with any autism spectrum condition in each of the above listed
schools in Q1 that are currently being educated by the boards Home
tuition service and list; a) how many hours each child is receiving
from the service b) how many children are receiving this service at
home c) how many children are receiving this service in a venue
other than home. Please can you break this down into; d) those with
an additional cognitive learning disability e) those without an
additional cognitive learning disability.

Question 1- As per the links to both the Department of
Education and our web site sent to you on 24 March. DE publish school
level data. Section 21 FOIA refers to information which reasonably
accessible by other means.
Question 2 - Please refer to attachment.
Question 3 - We do not hold the information requested . Stages
1&2 of the Special Educational Needs (SEN) register are the
responsibility of the schools.– It is my understanding that schools make
an annual return to Department of Education. Please refer to DE web site
or contact individual schools direct.
