CCTV of collision on M42 Northbound between J6 and J7 on 11/10/17 at approx 6:50pm

The request was successful.

Dear Highways England Company Limited,

I was involved in a RTC on the M42 Northbound, just north of junction 6, on Wednesday October 11th 2017 at approximately 6:50pm. I was driving a red Renault Clio, registration BJ14VGC, proceeding from the left lane of the junction 6 northbound entry slip road on to the M42 on to the hard shoulder which at the time was an active running lane due to heavy traffic. Around the start of the hard shoulder a lorry, registration DX66JYW, moved from lane 1 in to the hard shoulder and collided with the rear driver's side of my vehicle, causing me to spin and then pushed my vehicle side on along the motorway for several hundred feet. Emergency services were called and a representative of Highways England attended the scene to enable clearance of the carriageway.

Please could you provide me with CCTV footage of the collision to support my insurance claim.

Yours faithfully,

Marc Walker

Taylor, Roxroy,

Dear Mr Walker,

Thank you for your recent enquiry to the Highways England requesting CCTV
footage of an incident in which you were involved on the 11^th October
2017 at 1854hrs near Junction 6, M42.

The motorway network cameras are in place to provide operational
information to Highways England Officers.  This allows them to observe
traffic flow in strategic areas and despatch on-road crews as required.

In general, the focus will be at long distance to give a wide or long
range view.  Only when cameras are zoomed in on an ongoing incident will
focus be detailed enough to ascertain individual vehicle identity.

Information (held by each camera in isolation) is automatically erased
after 7 days.  We are able to provide this information in certain
circumstances, if asked for in time.

I have checked the cameras and can confirm that footage of the collision
is available. Registration numbers or other personal details are not
identifiable in the footage therefore I can release this under a Freedom
of Information request.

I’ve burned the footage to disc. If you can supply a postal address I’ll
send the disc to you.

If you’re not satisfied with the response you receive from us at Highways
England please see our complaints procedure at:
