Dear InfoMgr, FinDMT,

why is the fully fitted control room at Birkenhead not used.

Yours sincerely,

pt ogorman

Gadawodd George Skelton anodiad ()

It was used as cctv control room. However to save money a few years ago , control of the cameras was passed to police in liverpool. 11 council staff were made redundant at that time.

Gadawodd Michael Edwards anodiad ()

The control room is used too carry out every other duty it has always done apart from viewing cctv, makes you wonder why eleven staff got sent down the road.

Dear Mr O’Gorman

Thank you for your recent enquiry made under the Freedom of Information
Act.

I can confirm that there is no CCTV monitoring taking place at Birkenhead
control centre.  Wirral Council adopted a saving option to transfer the
monitoring of CCTV to the new Police Joint Command Centre at Bootle. The
Birkenhead control room is used as a location for the Council’s Out of
Hours public contact service and as a place where the various property
alarms are monitored.

I trust this information is of interest to you.

Yours sincerely
