CCEA and Performance Related Pay

Roedd y cais yn llwyddiannus.

Dear Department of Education (Northern Ireland),

CCEA recently released the below information in relation to PRP payments:

Year (April – March)Amount £(Gross)
2012/13 264,276.11
2013/14 105,229.86
2014/15 271,945.91
2015/16 377,601.96
2016/17 253,721.50
Grand Total1,272,775.34

In the last 5 years CCEA has paid out almost £1.3 million pounds in PRP.

Does the Department of Education audit these payments? are targets being met in order to qualify for a PRP payment?

Do other organisations who receive a budget from the Dept of Education pay PRP to employees?

Does the Education Authority pay PRP?

Yours faithfully,

John Cope

Dear Workforce Planning,

Thank you for the following information;

CCEA and Performance Related Pay

1) Does the Department of Education audit these payments?

All remuneration payments including performance related payments are subject to review and authorisation by the Department of Education and the Department of Finance through the annual Pay Remit Approval Process.

2) Are targets being met in order to qualify for a PRP payment?

The Review of performance against targets is an internal process conducted by CCEA and its staff, with proposed payments presented to the CCEA Remuneration Committee for review and approval.

3) Do other organisations who receive a budget from the Department of Education pay PRP to employees?

No other Departmental Arms’ Length Bodies currently pay PRP to employees.

4) Does the Education Authority pay PRP?

The Education Authority does not have a PRP Scheme.

Can I ask, why are CCEA the only arms length body of the department of education to have Performance Related Pay?

Yours sincerely,

John Cope
