Catering at House of Commons

The request was refused by House of Commons.

Dear House of Commons,

Can you please let me have a copy of any log/comments book or
similar which allows customers and or staff/visitors to register
comments about food and drink they receive at any outlet (bars,
restaurants, shops catering services) in the House of Commons for
the most recent 12-month period.

Also, can you send me copies of any written complaints from
staff/customers about any aspect of the catering service or
hospitality on offer with any replies to these complaints
(including emails).

How many complaints did you receive in the most recent 12-month
period in relation to food and drink served in the House of Commons
dining facilities? Please provide copies of the letters of
complaint.

Additionally can you provide me with all details of complaints
about the food/restaurants/bars/catering services in the House of
Commons.

If the 12-month timescale would cost too much, can you please restrict search to last six months.

Yours faithfully,

Stian Alexander

Dear Stian Alexander,

Freedom of Information Request F18-258

Thank you for your request for information, copied below. You asked for
details of customer complaints about food and drink served at House of
Commons catering outlets during the last twelve months to the date of your
request on 28 June 2018.

This information is held by the House of Commons, however, in the
interests of transparency, the House publishes all feedback received and
recorded by Catering Services proactively, along with the responses to
this feedback. This information is published annually in October relating
to the preceding period from 1 August to 31 July.

Information for 1 August 2017 to July 2018 will be published in October
this year. Until the information is published it is exempt from disclosure
by virtue of the exemption set out in section 22 (1)  of the Freedom of
Information Act 2000, the exemption for information held by the public
authority where its publication is planned at a future date. Section 22 is
a qualified exemption, which means that we have to consider the balance of
public interest in withholding the information or disclosing it.

While there is a public interest in the publication of information
relating to the service provided by Catering Services at the House of
Commons, we have concluded that this is outweighed by both the public
interest in the routine disclosure of this information and the achievement
of this publication by the focusing of the significant resources required
to process the data in the manner required while achieving best value for
money.

Information for 29 June to 31 July 2017 is available on our website at:
[1]https://www.parliament.uk/site-informati...
. Please note that personal data, including names of individuals providing
feedback, is redacted in order to comply with the data protection
principles. Please also note that feedback is received from a range of
pass-holders, including Members and their staff, Peers and their staff and
staff of both the House of Commons and the House of Lords, civil servants,
external contractors, visitors and journalists.

You may, if dissatisfied with the handling of your request, complain to
the House of Commons. Alternatively, if you are dissatisfied with the
outcome of your request you may ask the House of Commons to conduct an
internal review of any decision regarding your request.  Complaints or
requests for internal review should be addressed to: Information Rights
and Information Security Service, Research & Information Team, House of
Commons, London SW1A 0AA or [2][House of Commons request email].  Please ensure
that you specify the full reasons for your complaint or internal review
along with any arguments or points that you wish to make.

If you remain dissatisfied, you may appeal to the Information Commissioner
at Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire SK9 5AF,
[3]www.ico.gov.uk.

Yours sincerely,
