Bus rules

Bigboz Barrabus made this Rhyddid Gwybodaeth request to Transport for London

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

Roedd y cais yn rhannol lwyddiannus.

Dear Transport for London,

Can you please provide the following information under FOI:

1. Is a bus driver required to display a PSV licence number?

2. If not, when did this requirement cease?

3.Is the bus driver required to give his PSV number ( or similar identification) if requested to do do by a passenger?

4. If not when did this requirement cease?

5. Is there a policy on what notes can be accepted on a bus for a cash fare?

6. If so can I have a copy of the policy?

7. Is that policy set at TfL level or individual bus company level?

This request is prompted by the driver of Paddington-bound Route 436 running number 304 refusing a £20 note from a passenger resulting in a ten minute stand off before the controller told the driver to stop at the next stop by a shop to allow her to get change. This the driver did but as soon as she got off to go to the shop he drove off. At Peckham he refused to accept a £10 note and the prospective passenger had to get off. When I asked for his PsV number he said he didn't have to give that. When I asked for the running number he told me to look at the side of the bus.
At no time did he say to either passenger that he didn't have change. He just said he wasn't required to take anything larger than a £5.

Can you please treat Qs 1-7 as FOI request and pass on the rest of this email to your Complaints Dept. I would like a response from FoI and from Complaints.

Many thanks.

Yours faithfully,

FOI, Transport for London
