Dear Marine Management Organisation,
How many burial at sea licences have been issued since 2015?
How many of those have been issued for Irish sea?
Dear Mr Dalton,
Thank you for your request for information, received on 25 December 2021.
I can confirm that the total number of marine licences for burials at sea by the Marine Management Organisation since 01 January 2015 is 95.
According to records held by the MMO, no licences were issued for burials at sea within the Irish Sea.
For future reference, it might be helpful to know that this information is proactively available within our online public register: https://marinelicensing.marinemanagement...
If you use the 'advance search' you can search by application type 'Burial at sea' which will list all licences applied for, and issues, by the MMO.
If you require any further advice or assistance, please contact me in the first instance. Additionally, if you are unhappy with the way the MMO has handled your request for information, you can request an internal review by writing to Internal Reviews, Access to Information, at the MMO, Lancaster House, Hampshire Court, Newcastle Business Park, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE4 7YH or e-mail [email address].
