Bullying Statistics
Dear King Edward VI Community College Totnes,
As the installation of uniform last September was intended to 'minimise social distinctions and avoid the kind of expense or extreme competition in appearance that can arise between students of a secondary school age', it is requested under the Freedom of Information Act that the statistics for reports of bullying are supplied for the years 2007 to 2013. This should also include number of incidents where a child has been injured by another, complaints made by students or parents, and all incidents where parents have arranged meetings with either the headmistress, head of year or other authority figure to discuss the bullying of their child.
Yours faithfully,
Ms. Smith
Dear Ms Smith,
Further to your request for information under the Freedom of Information
Act dated 14^th May 2013 this reply is being prepared within the statutory
20 working school day limit which expires on 18^th June 2013.
You have asked for access to any statistics held by the College on reports
of bullying between 2007 and 2013.
The College holds information for the period 2009 to date as follows:
2009/10 30 incidents
20010/12 25 incidents
2011/12 21 incidents
2012/13 16 incidents (up to 14^th May, the date of your enquiry).
These statistics relate to all recorded incidents dealt with through our
Heads of Year team and include matters dealt with by simply speaking to a
student (following a minor incident) through to the need to make contact
with parents for more serious matters.
In addition for the period January 2012 to April 2013 we have the
following information in respect of matters dealt with through the
Principal’s office:
Complaints relating to bullying 18
(Clearly some of these incidents will duplicate matters set out above in
the Heads of year section as the escalation route would be handled through
the Principal’s Office).
I hope that you will find this information useful.
If for whatever reason you are unhappy with our response you are entitled
to pursue any dissatisfaction through the College’s Complaints Procedure.
If you are dissatisfied you may write to the us at King Edward VI
Community College, Ashburton Road, Totnes, Devon TQ9 5JX. A copy of the
