Dear Ms Lewis

Thank you for your recent Freedom of Information request regarding waste
management services at Wirral Council.  Please see our response to your
enquiry below.

Please itemise the cost of emptying the green bins, the grey bins and the
brown bins 2016/2017.

Due to the complexity of Waste Management contracts, they are structured
on an "annual sum" basis, not a "per collection" amount. To estimate the
cost of collection per bin, we would be required to divide the annual sum
by the number of collections in a given period. On that basis, Annual Sum
(£5,000,000) / number of collections per annum (8,604,000 - green, grey
and brown) = 0.58p per collection. Please note, this is an estimated
amount only.

Please state the cost of purchasing two new food bins for each household.

Approximate cost to supply an indoor and outdoor caddy, plus a roll of
liners to 135,000 households was £700k in 2016.   Current market value is
unknown.

Please state the projected cost of cleaning these bins.

The Council does not operate a cleaning service of any bins.  Cost
unknown.

2018/2019 Please state the projected cost of emptying these bins
2018/2019.

The Council does not operate a separate collection of food.  Cost unknown.

Please state the projected cost of assistance to be given to elderly and
disabled adults who cannot lift the bins when full to the collection area
outside their homes.

As above, there is no disaggregated cost of an "Assisted Collection" and
it is not priced on a per lift basis but incorporated into the "Annual
Sum". There is therefore no figure available for this.

Yours sincerely
