BSI accreditation of Bamfords(AJAX) electronic door entry sytems installers

maxine mcgill made this Freedom of Information request to British Standards Institution
This authority is not subject to FOI law, so is not legally obliged to respond (details).
This request has been closed to new correspondence. Contact us if you think it should be reopened.

Waiting for an internal review by British Standards Institution of their handling of this request.

Dear British Standards Institution, BSI have accredited Bamfords (AJAX) who install electronic door entry systems. Bamfords have accreditations listed on their website including BSI.

Does BSI know that all features of the door entry system are manufactured and fitted safely to make sure that there are no trip hazards arising from certain parts of the door entry system, in particular...the overhang of metal sheet placed over the existing doorsteps?

Does BSI think that safety of the tenants inside blocks of flats where door entry systems are installed by Bamfords, should be paramount.

Are BSI of the opinion that the installation of door entry systems should comply with building regulations?

Yours faithfully,

maxine mcgill

Does BSI guarantee that Bamfords(AJAX) manufacture and install door entry systems without creating a trip hazard when they place a metal sheet(threshold) over the existing doorstep to make sure there isn't a dangerous overhang ie no trip hazards?

Dear British Standards Institution, Who is responsible for making sure that Bamford and Co Ltd; manufacturers and installers of electronic door entry systems, install electronic door entry sytems, into blocks of housing associations, safely so as not to create any hazards for tenants to trip on?
Since B.S.I. have given accreditation to Bamford and Co Ltd relating to manufacture and installing electronic door entry systems, do B.S.I have any authority to penalize Bamford and Co Ltd if they have created a trip hazard on which a tenant has been injured?

Yours faithfully,

maxine mcgill

B.S.I. have given accreditation to Bamford and Co Ltd, relating to manufacturing and installing of electronic door entry systems, so what is the policy of B.S.I. if Bamford and Co Ltd have created a hazard when installing their door entry system?
