Dear Dr Sreedharan

FOI-2022-01-14-01

Further to your request for information please find below the response from UCAS in regard to the specific information you have requested.

I can confirm that we do hold the data requested. You can find some information on our website here: https://www.ucas.com/data-and-analysis/u.... You can search by provider at the top and then Subject Group (JACS3) on the right. However, this will not provide statistics for the precise course of Business Economics.

If you require more specific information than that found on our website, this is available to purchase via our EXACT service. EXACT can provide data on the specific courses at each university over the last 5 years.

Disclosure controls are applied to the data to reduce the risk of disclosing personal data about identifiable individuals. For counts, the controls include reporting each cell count to the nearest five. In particular cell counts of 1 and 2 are reported as 0. Rows that only report 0 are omitted from the output. These controls are applied to each cell independently so this may result in instances where totals do not equal the sum of the components. For derived statistics (e.g. means), to ensure these disclosure controls are not undone, a minor adjustment is applied, if necessary, such that the set of records contributing to each cell matches the reported cell count (to the nearest five). This involves either removing 1 or 2 records at random, or adding in 1 or 2 duplicates at random. If the number of values contributing to a cell is 1, 2 or 0 then it is displayed as 'N'. Rows that only report 'N' are omitted from the output.

EXACT is a charged service and is supplied with terms and conditions that define the extent to which the results can be reproduced in publications. Further details on the service can be found via: https://www.ucas.com/corporate/data-and-....

In terms of the data available on the UCAS website and available upon payment (through the EXACT service), as this information is accessible by other means, it is exempt from disclosure under Section 21 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

If you are not satisfied with the way in which we have responded to your request you may:

1) Contact us requesting that this matter is reviewed internally by UCAS. Your request will then be subject to our internal review process.
2) If you remain dissatisfied with the outcome of your internal review, you can contact the Information Commissioner's Office. The Information Commissioner can be contacted at: The Information Commissioner's Office,
Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire SK9 5AF, telephone 0303 1231113, or for further details see their website www.ico.org.uk

Kind regards,
Jessica
