British Food Prices
Dear Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs,
As you are no doubt aware, food prices have been rising in the UK.
I would like to know:
1) Food price rises. What are the government's most recent projections for food price inflation each year for the next five years 2018-2023, or part thereof if this period has not been forecast fully?
2) Availability of food. What effect will leaving the European Union have on the range of food available to UK consumers in the next five years 2028-2023? Will there be a limited supply of any foodstuffs?
Yours faithfully,
Kristian Healey-Ryder

Dear Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs,
Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.
I am writing to request an internal review of Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs's handling of my FOI request 'British Food Prices'.
The Freedom of Information Act requires that requests are handled promptly and within 20 days. By law, the response should be issued by 20 October 2017; it is now 30 October. Despite sending a reminder email to yourselves, I have received no reply beyond automated email replies.
As per my original request, I would like to know what the latest forecasts are for the impact on food prices in leaving the European Union.
A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/b...

Dear Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs,
Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.
I am writing to request an internal review of Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs's handling of my FOI request 'British Food Prices'.
Thank you for your response, albeit outside of the timescale mandated by law. Given that you have declined to share any meaningful information, I fail to see why your department was unable to respond to my request promptly or within 20 days.
I am greatly concerned that your department is declining to disclose what will happen to food prices. Regardless of the negotiations with the EU, I have a right to know what is predicted to happen to food prices as a result of government policy.
HM Government is using the FOI Act's exemptions as a blanket excuse to refuse to disclose information to avoid transparency and scrutiny. I do not agree that disclosing what will happen to food prices will prejudice the negotiations with the EU, and assert that my right to know what will happen to the food I eat outweighs the permitted exemptions to disclosing information.
