Dear Cabinet Office,
Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.
I am writing to request an internal review of Cabinet Office's handling of my FOI request 'Brexit Benefits' as I do not feel it has been fully dealt with in the spirit of the Act. There are a couple of reasons for this; firstly the final response I received on 22 July 2022, makes no reference to Section 35 (Formation of Government Policy), or the public interest test that was supposedly carried out, as referenced in the letter dated 20 July 2022 (an example of breathtaking speed and efficiency if a Public Interest Test was carried out in this time).
Secondly, your response fails to take into account the time-frame of my request. My request requested benefits identified by the Minister of State for Brexit Opportunities and Government Efficiency since his appointment, or to put it another way, since 8 February 2022. The document you directed me to was published in January, therefore whilst useful (sort of) is out of scope.
If I may give you further advice about what is in scope for this request, early on in his tenure, the Minister reached out to the public regarding Brexit benefit ideas (one would have hoped this was not necessary as an early proponent of the benefits but perhaps Operation Save Big Dog distracted him. Surely many of these ideas have been considered and ALL will have been collated somewhere.
A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/b...
Yours faithfully,
Magnus Ponsonby-Talbot
