Break down of positive sars cov 2 cases

We're waiting for steve clarke to read a recent response and update the status.

Dear Public Health England,

Could I please ask for some clarification on the current cases of Coronavirus or SARS cov 2 as of today’s date? Some sort of percentage breakdown of the overall new cases.

The data that we are fed on a daily basis regarding new strains and cases exponentially rising:

• Can you please give a breakdown of these total “ case ” numbers? Ie how many are procured from single patient tests? And likewise how many are repeat tests of the same person? How many are procured from sewerage testing? How many from hospitals? How many are in the care home sector? How many are in the workplace? How many are carried out in schools? How many are carried out in the home? And how many are repeat persons or tests or singular tests? How many of these new cases had received one vaccination jab? Two vaccination jabs? And no jab?

• In relation to the testing of sewerage. Do you know the amplification or cycle threshold being used on this sampling? Is it a set national level for all lab PCR tests or does it fluctuate? Is every sewerage sample a lab confirmed PCR test?

• Are all the positive cases we see all lab confirmed PCR tested specimens? If so what is the cycle rate for these lab tests? Is there a national average? What is this average? Does the CT rate change up and down the country? Has it ever changed throughout the pandemic starting from March 2020? What are the parameters for it to be changed from one CT rate to another?

• In relation to the overall positive cases that we are fed every day, how many overall tests are these cases procured from? Ie how many tests were taken to produce the amount of stated new cases? Obviously the amount of tests given is an important figure when putting things into context. How many tests are being processed daily?

• What is the range of result discrimination between the different manufacturers of the LAMP type tests? Do they all have the same rate of false positive or false negative results? How many different manufacturers of these types of test do the UK.Gov use or supply?

• How many overall tests have been disclosed to PHE since March 2020? A breakdown of lab confirmed PCR tests and LAMP type tests?

Yours faithfully,

steve clarke
