Dear Belfast Health and Social Care Trust (Northern Ireland),

Following on from FOI

you advise "The Trust is not aware of any patient not being able to share their experience of the blood patches". Multiple complaints of this nature have been sent to the Trust both in writing and through the neurology helpline. On the 01st June 2021, in a zoom call with senior management, this again was made clear and comments from multiple blood patch patients were readout.

1. What action has the Belfast Trust taken following this complaint directly to the Belfast Trust Board and HSCB? Please outline all steps.

During this call, I had again raised a complaint that patients were told they could not see a blood patch expert outside of NI, and in my own case it, "did not warrant exceptional circumstances". We have since have found that no such request was ever sent to the board and a new request to be seen by a blood patch expert was submitted on the 4th June 2021.

2. What steps have the Trust carried out to secure this appointment for the patients of this neurology group?

I have advised you of patients who had been waiting on tests/neurology appointments who had been discharged without their knowledge.

3. What steps have you taken to rectify this. For example, did you contact the surviving blood patch patients to ask if they have been properly dealt with, as we have previously reported the inaccuracies in the recording of information by the recall consultants?

Yours faithfully,

Lyndsay Eccleston

Dear Turner, Clark,

Thank you for your email. I refer you to Clare Lundy in the neurosciences department. This relates to a patch performed on a blood patch patient. Please note, I am not asking for personal details of this patient.

I am however concerned regarding the handling of patient data under GDPR, that you are unable to locate this information.

Yours sincerely,

Lyndsay Eccleston
