Dear HM Passport Office,

Under the freedom of information act 2000,

Can you confirm whether:

1) 'De La Rue', prints birth certificates and also passports?

2) Whether 'De La Rue' holds the original birth certificate printed through the use of their DLR identify(TM) for Civil Registration and Vital Statistics, as opposed to the certified copies received by those who register the birth of their children through the General Registry Office, who work on behalf of HM Passport Office?

3) If 'De La Rue' is a public company registered on the London Stock Exchange?

4) If the term 'passport' and 'passporting' in the banking industry means the same thing and also whether obtaining a 'passport' is for travelling usage or for other reason explained elsewhere such as the right to 'passporting' in banking terminology?

Yours faithfully,

Melissa Shirley

Dear HM Passport Office,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of HM Passport Office's handling of my FOI request 'Birth Certificate Printing Information'.

[My freedom of information request has been recalled without explanation of why. I was sent a few links in relation to my freedom of information request asking for confirmation of who prints the passports, as it is currently advertised to the public that the passports a processed through HM Passport Office. I requested for confirmation as to whether De La Rue prints birth certificates as it is mentioned on their website that civil registration is operated through the creation of 'DLR Identify(TM)' although again this is not mentioned on either the General Registration Office who operate on behalf of HM Passport Office. It was also mentioned on the response from HM Passport Office, to my freedom of information request that the information requested is easily accessible, when the truth of the matter is, that it took me a rather long time to find out that De La Rue operates on part of the government as this vital information is not freely available on HM passport website or General Registry Office website, neither is it available on leaflets at the business offices where people go in to register the births of their children or apply for passports. I was fortunate enough to access some of the minimal extra information through extensive research in other areas of information and just so happened to stumble upon this extra information which although is very limited in the freedom of information. I therefore would like a review as to why my freedom of information request is being recalled and also an explanation as to how the information about De La Rue operations with HM passport office and General Registry Office is freely available information when this is not mentioned at all through HM Passports Office/Website or General Registry Office/Website]

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/b...

Yours faithfully,

Melissa Shirley
