Further on this matter. Could you please clarify what you mean by "Bio Diversity Target Surveys" and "Protection of Wildlife Habitat assessments" as these are terms that we are not familiar with.

Do you mean - Environmental feasibility study.

The 20 working day clock shall be paused until we receive your response

Dear FOI Unit,
Thank you for your response.
I refer to the Vale of Glamorgan Biodiversity Action Plan 2002 subsequent updates and newsletters and your current web pages.
In which it is stated that the Vale of Glamorgan subscribes to the BARS Biodiversity Action Plan Reporting System.
In relation to the Habitat in question the Railway Walk Footpath Penarth for each year from 2005 to 2013, I wish to know what surveys and collated data has been accumulated in accordance with BARS Partnership Plans or your equivalent D of E recgonised Biodiversity monitoring criteria.
I am uncertain of the term feasibility in this context so to clarify my requirements I have reprinted below your own bench marks. Please supply all data for each year from 2005 to 2013 the Vale of Glamorgan have collated in respect of the Railway Walk Footpath Penarth in accordance with BARS criteria or the recognised equivalent as defined by yourselves in the statement below.

"Partnership plans
Name Description
GAP-APD Action plan development The local biodiversity action plan aims to co-ordinate conservation work in the Vale: bringing together programmes that focus on priority habitats and their associated species and linking them to Wales-wide conservation objectives
GAP-DC Data collection and monitoring To successfully carry out long-term conservation work it's essential that our partnership has information about the priority habitats (how much there is and what condition its in) and species (what lives here and where can it be found). This action plan aims to increase the range of data available and its accuracy.
GAP-EA Education and awareness The awareness of our environment, wildlife and biodiversity has become more important over recent years. This interest can be tapped into: raising the awareness of the Vale's priority habitats and species and the work that’s needed to conserve them.
HAP-BGSG Brownfield, green space and gardens "

Dear FOI Unit,

Thank you. I look forward to your reply.

The council has considered your request and would inform you as follows.

Although the Local Biodiversity Action Plan on BARS refers to data
collection and monitoring, due to limited resources this has only taken
place on limited sites and for limited habitats and species and the main
action as stated on BARS is to encourage people to record and submit
records to the South East Wales Biodiversity Records Centre (SEWBReC).

Apart from surveys and assessments undertaken as part of the cycleway
project, the council is not aware of any specific surveys or data
collection undertaken along the Railway Walk Footpath, Penarth as part of
the LBAP.

However we have been informed it appears the council requested that
“Soltys Brewster Environmental” undertake a report for the feasibility
study in 2010-11.

It is possible that “SEWBReC” holds data for the area and they can be
contacted via
