You have requested the following:

 

Can you please tell me the number of betting shops in your council area
each year from 2000-2015 i.e. yearly count of betting shops from
2000-2015?

 

The response to your request has been dealt with under the Freedom of
Information Act 2000 and the information you have requested is listed
below. Please be advised that Council records regarding betting shops are
only in existence from 2007 onwards as this was the year that betting
shops started to be licensed by the Council under the Gambling Act 2005.

 

The total number of betting shops licensed on 31^st December of each year
are as follows:

 

2007 – 56

2008 – 59

2009 – 62

2010 – 62

2011 – 64

2012 – 65

2013 – 67

2014 – 64

2015 – 64

2016 – 66 (figures are correct up to today’s date)
