Dear General Council of the Bar,
Can you tell me how many times family and civil law Barrister Anthony Ivan Jerman formally from 42 Bedford Row Chambers and 5 Pump Court Chambers has been reported to the bar for being drunk while representing his clients?
Dear Ms Brimm
Please note that the General Council of the Bar (including the Bar Standards Board) is not formally subject to the Freedom of Information Act as we are not a public authority as outlined in Schedule 1 of the Act; however, we endeavour to respond to such requests with within the spirit of the Act, in the interests of transparency.
In respect of your request for the personal data of Mr Jerman, if we were subject to the Freedom of Information Act, we would not be required to comply with a request for information if complying with the request would contravene the data protection principles. FOIA contains an exemption under section 40(2) where the request relates to the personal data of third parties.
For these reasons we are unable to provide any further information, beyond that which is already in the public domain. The Bar Standards Board website allows members of the public to search findings that have been given by disciplinary tribunals since 2002 in accordance with our Publication Policy.
