Dear Rotherham, Doncaster and South Humber Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust,

Would you please provide me with the numbers and description of

i) Non NHS "Step-Up" or crisis type beds for people at risk of a
psychiatric admission(ie. for people who do not need a full
admission but do need to be removed from their usual residence)

ii) NHS psychiatric Assessment ward beds ( eg max 7 days)

iii) Non NHS "Step-down" type beds (ie. for people who no longer
need to be on an inpatient ward but for whom discharge to their
usual residence would be inappropriate)

iv) Non NHS Respite type beds

v) NHS Rehab and recovery beds

For each, please identify how these numbers breakdown for;
<65 ( or working age adults) ,
>65 [Dementia] and
>65 [Functional]" ( or by other age cut off eg over 70)

For financial year 2009/10.

Dear Mr. Walsh,

Further to your request, I can confirm numbers and description as follows:

i) Non NHS "Step-Up" or crisis type beds for people at risk of a
psychiatric admission (ie. for people who do not need a full admission but
do need to be removed from their usual residence)

* Adult Inpatient Services - there are 4 crisis beds staffed by Rethink
* Older Adult Services - no provision

ii) NHS psychiatric Assessment ward beds ( eg max 7 days)

* Adult Inpatient Services - we have 104 acute admission beds and 10
psychiatric intensive care beds
* Older Adult Services - no provision

iii) Non NHS "Step-down" type beds (ie. for people who no longer need to
be on an inpatient ward but for whom discharge to their usual residence
would be inappropriate)

* No provision in either Adult Inpatient or Older Adult Services

iv) Non NHS Respite type beds

* Adult Inpatient Services - no provision
* Older Adult Services - we do not manage any respite beds: please refer
to the local authority commissioners for further information regarding
care home respite beds

v) NHS Rehab and recovery beds

* Adult Inpatient Services - we have 37 hostel hospital beds, 8 hospital
beds in bungalows and 15 single special tenancies (not hospital beds)
* Older Adult Services - no provision
