BAME staff risk assessment

Roedd y cais yn llwyddiannus.

Dear NHS Trust or Clinical Commissioning group,

On behalf of Sky News, I am trying to obtain an answer to the following questions.

I would appreciate a response as detailed as possible please.

"Simon Stevens and Amanda Pritchard wrote to all NHS trusts and CCG Chief Executives on the 29th of April to advise that employers, on a precautionary basis, should conduct risk assessments for staff at greater risk during the COVID-19 pandemic and to act accordingly.
Has your organisation completed risk assessments on all Black Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) staff?
AND
What precautions, if any, have you put in place to protect BAME staff once they've been risk assessed?"

Yours faithfully,

Inzamam Rashid

Thank you for your email, we apologise for the delayed reply.

SCAS have carried out risk assessments on all our BAME staff and solutions have varied depending on the level of risk and the type of role they undertake.

Examples of solutions are working from home, finding alternative non-patient facing roles, providing alternative accommodation where a BAME household was also a factor and shielding if no suitable alternative could be found. This however was a very small minority and where potentially there was also an underlying health condition as well as being a BAME member of staff. Again another small number of people declined to complete risk assessments but regardless of that managers would have considered any potential risk and taken steps to minimise.
