Dear London School of Economics,

Can the school provide the predicted grades of the candidates given an offer for BA Anthropology and Law in the 2018/19 admissions cycle? Moreover, will the school be able to provide information on the composition of the body of students, and the qualifications that they hold for the application?

Yours faithfully,
Marie Lapierre

Dear London School of Economics,

To clarify my previous request (which can be disregarded), I will like to seek the following admissions information for BA Anthropology and Law in the 2014/15, 2015/16, 2016/17, 2017/18 and 2018/19 admissions cycle:

1) Number of applicants who applied, were given an offer and enrolled into the course;
2) Nationalities of applicants who applied, were given an offer and enrolled into the course (data for each category);
3) The respective figures for applicants (each category) who took A-levels, the IB or other qualifications;
4) The average predicted grades of A-level and IB students who applied, and of those who were given offers; and,
5) Number of applicants applying for BA Anthropology and Law who also applied for LLB (M100) and BA/BSc Anthropology, and their acceptance rates for BA Anthropology and Law.

It will be much appreciated if data could be presented in an Excel spreadsheet to facilitate comparison.

Yours faithfully,
Marie Lapierre

Dear London School of Economics,

In addition of the previous request, I would also like to know whether BA Anthropology and Law applicants are reviewsd by admission tutors from the Department of Anthropology, and whether LNAT scores are needed or (even if not needed) taken into account when accessing candidates.

Yours faithfully,
Marie Lapierre

Dear Marie,

I've been asked by colleagues for clarification on what you mean by ' will the school be able to provide information on the composition of the body of students, and the qualifications that they hold for the application?' Can you provide more detail please?

Once we have your clarification, we will be able to further process your request.

Regards,
Rachael

Dear Rachael,

Thank you for your request for clarification.

What I meant was that I would like to know the nationalities of the students studying the course, and the secondary school qualifications with which they entered LSE. I hope this is clear enough; if it is not, please disregard this specific question and kindly provide information for other questions.

Moreover, as I have noted, it would be sufficient to just respond to the last two of my original three emails. I apologise for any confusion.

Merci beaucoup,
Marie

Dear Marie,

With reference to your request for information under the Freedom of Information Act, please find attached the information you requested.

Please note that the responses relating to IB/A-Level/Other grades cannot be completely accurate since the data collection in this area is patchy. Also, we can't average out A-Level grades, so we have listed the raw grades in the results.

In response to your query 'In addition of the previous request, I would also like to know whether BA Anthropology and Law applicants are reviewed by admission tutors from the Department of Anthropology, and whether LNAT scores are needed or (even if not needed) taken into account when accessing candidates', some applications are reviewed by the Admissions Tutor as part of the Admissions Process. We do not require the LNAT for BA Anthropology and Law and we do not consider LNAT scores as part of the decision making process.

If you think that the information provided does not meet your request, contact me on 020 7849 4622 or write to Louise Nadal, School Secretary, London School of Economics and Political Science, Houghton Street, London, WC2A 2AE. We will then review the response to your request and get back to you within 20 working days. You can also contact the Information Commissioner's Office http://www.ico.gov.uk/, though they expect the internal review to be carried out before receiving a complaint directly.

The provision of information by the LSE under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 does not imply a right to copy, reproduce publish or otherwise use such information.

Copying or reproducing such information in any way either in whole or in part without prior written consent may be an infringement of copyright or other intellectual property right belonging to the LSE or a third party.
