Dear DWP Adelphi Freedom-of-Information-Request,

I refer to those mentioned in the 'ESA Handbook' , mentioned at paragraphs 3.5 and 3.7 copied below :

3.5 Guidance on Specific Conditions (physical)
The reader is referred to the Atos Healthcare Evidence Based Protocols. The full protocols for these and other medical conditions can be found on the CD ROM – Evidence Based Protocols for the Disability Analyst. You must obtain a copy of this CD from your local unit if you do not already have a copy.

3.7 Guidance on Specific Conditions – Mental Health
The reader is referred to the Atos Healthcare Evidence Based Protocols for the Disability Analyst. These protocols have been issued to all Disability Analysts working in Atos Healthcare. If you do not have a copy, this can be accessed by contacting your local MSC.

I would be happy to recieve a CD rom version if it is not possible to email me an electronic copy, please let me know if you require my postal address

Yours sincerely,

Jim Cook

The text in the Introduction file says that there are 42 protocols, but fewer than 20 are listed here.

See this House of Commons Report:

RSI Action requested a copy of the CD from the DWP Deputy Chief Medical Adviser. DWP provided us with the CD entitled “252 Evidence Based Protocols for the Disability Analyst V1”. The CD included four sections each containing a number of protocols (Cardiorespiratory—14 protocols; Mental Health—12 protocols; Musculoskeletal—10 protocols, and; Neurological & Infections—6 protocols). In total there were 42 protocols rather than the 252 in the title of the CD. Requests for clarity from DWP and ATOS on this issue have failed to identify how many protocols they should be, and whether we have been provided with all of them. However what is very clear is that we have not been provided with any protocol relating to RSI conditions.
