Matthew McCoig-Lees (0161 923 6579), General Medical Council

Dear Mr Barron

Thank you for your email. I have considered your request under the Freedom
of Information Act 2000.

Before answering your questions I should explain a little about how we
have answered them. To answer both your questions, we searched for closed
cases involving male doctors who were investigated for a number of
allegations. The allegations we looked at are split between criminal
allegations and allegations where there was no police involvement. The
allegations are:

Allegations which were reported to the Police

•             Sexual assault

•             Sexual abuse involving a child

•             Rape

•             Attempted rape

Allegations which were not reported to the Police

•             Indecent assault

•             Indecent behaviour

•             Indecent exposure

•             Rape

•             Sexual assault

•             Attempted rape

I should make clear that allegations may have been closed or withdrawn at
any point in the investigation process.

We do not have complete data for the identity of the victims. I have only
provided data where the gender of the victim as well as if they were a
patient has been recorded in a systematic way.

I have copied your questions below and  our response under each one.
