I am writing in response to your Freedom of Information request dated 6
September 2020.

For ease of reference, I have reproduced your question below and set out
our corresponding response.

I am writing to ask about whether there are policies in place for your
medicine course for international students who were kept from doing a
certain number of IGCSEs.  For medicine, you require a total of 9 IGCSEs
but as an international student I had only done 6. Is there any policies
to increase the competitiveness of the applicant if that's the case (for
example extrapolating the scores)?

The information requested can be found is in our Admissions Policy for
Undergraduate Programmes in Medicine 2021 entry (copy attached).

Information on extenuating circumstances can be found on p5: “Prior to
submitting a UCAS application

Should you think that something has significantly impacted upon your
academic performance, you may submit extenuating circumstances which must
be provided before the point of application. For extenuating circumstances
to be considered we must receive a completed ‘Extenuating Circumstances
form’ with supporting evidence (a letter from a medical professional if
health related, or a letter from faculty at current school) before the end
of September 2020. This form can be found on the website at

Information on  the situation where students re unable to undertake a
certain number of GCSEs (including IGCSEs) can be found on p9: “Applicants
must offer a total of nine subjects to include the minimum requirements
above. Where an applicant cannot take nine GCSEs due to School Policy,
applicants are advised to email [3][email address] for
advice.”

These cases are dealt with on a case by case basis.
