Mr. Smith,

We acknowledge receipt of your recent request.

In order for us to answer this we would be obliged if you would kindly
clarify the following points:

Q: Number of claims initiated against the council (formal or informal
claims) by Area Managers.

Clarification Sought:

What do you mean by ‘informal’ and ‘formal’ claims?

Does this extend to all claims made by Area Managers e.g. mileage claims,
overtime claims etc?

Q: The amount an value of payouts including settlements by the Council to
Area Managers?

Clarification Sought:

What do you mean by ‘payout’ in this question?

Does this include all payments made to Area Managers over the last five
years e.g. remuneration etc?

Once we have received your clarification in respect of the points above we
will in a position to process your request.

Yours faithfully,

Dear FOI Legal,

Payouts are excluding remuneration, mileage claims, subsistence claims, travel expenses, hotel expenses, conferences, training and any other similar expense that would be permitted as part of their job.

Payouts are any settlements the Council has entered into with current or former postholders outside their job such as settlement agreements or tribunal payments.

As to formal or informal claims. I mean if they have initiated tribunal proceedings and compensation awarded or settlement agreements where the Council has settled outside of a tribunal or court.

Does this clarify it?

Yours sincerely,

John Smith
