Appointment of Administrators
Dear Sir or Madam,
I understand that the University has appointed a Director of Student Services. When and where was this job advertised?
I am also interested to know:
1. Since 1st October 2008, the number of people appointed to posts within the University Services with a salary greater than £60,000.
2. The number of current vacant posts in the University Services offering salaries of greater than £60,000.
3. Since 1st October 2008, the number of University Services' staff who have resigned from posts with salaries greater than £60,000.
Yours faithfully,
Louis Seaman

Why wait for 20 working days, I can tell you now, the job was not advertised. In his email of 22nd May 2009 the Secretary of Court told all staff "I have recently asked Christine Lowther - and she has agreed - to take on an increased level of management responsibility."
The University may argue that this is not a new post, just increased responsibility. By definition it is a new post with a new title. The job should have been advertised (what happened to equal opportunity?).

I am really glad that Ms Lowther was asked. I am delighted that she agreed. I just wonder what was this Secretary of Court going to do if she had not agreed? Did he have a plan B?
Furthermore, the University of Glasgow seems to be a place that people do what they are asked to do. What a place! Jump - how high?

It is beyond the imagination of even the worst cynics to conceive of a more poorly run Administration.

Dear Sir or Madam,
Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.
I am writing to request an internal review of University of Glasgow's handling of my FOI request 'Appointment of Administrators'.
I wish to query the accuracy of your response " The Director of Student Services is a new title that has been conferred on an existing member of staff who is undertaking additional management responsibilities. This is not a new post and therefore was not advertised." Based on what criteria have you judged this post not to be new? What criteria determines whether a position is a new post or is simply granted a new title?
A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address:

I don't think this is an internal review request- it is more a refinement of your earlier request.
