Applied Behavioural Analysis

The request was successful.

Verity Bradley

Dear Lancashire County Council,

Please can you tell me how many children are receiving any Applied
Behavioural Analysis provision named as such as part of home or school education, or through schools that deliver ABA directly - at primary or secondary level.

Please can you then tell me how many of them had Applied
Behavioural Analysis due to a tribunal order and how many receive
this without a tribunal.

Please can you forward me any policy documents that are associated
with the awarding of any Applied Behavioural Analysis provision and
demonstrate how the decision is made.

Finally, please can you explain your rationale for awarding Applied
Behavioural Analysis without tribunal orders.

Yours faithfully,

Verity Bradley

Freedom of Information, Lancashire County Council

Dear Ms Bradley,

Request for information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000

Further to your email dated 6^th May, in which you request the disclosure
of information under the provisions of the above Act, we are now in a
position to respond.

Please can you tell me how many children are receiving any Applied
Behavioural Analysis provision named as such as part of home or school
education, or through schools that deliver ABA directly - at primary or
secondary level?

Records show that two pupils in Lancashire have ABA approaches named as
part of their educational provision.

One pupil currently on roll at a local high school receives part-time
provision and support from an ABA-based programme. This provision was
agreed by another Local Authority prior to the family's move to
Lancashire.

The other pupil is supported in a primary school by staff members who have
received some training from a Board Certified Behaviour Analysis
Therapist, who visits the school on 6 occasions during the year.

Please can you then tell me how many of them had Applied Behavioural
Analysis due to a tribunal order and how many receive this without a
tribunal?

None.

Please can you forward me any policy documents that are associated with
the awarding of any Applied Behavioural Analysis provision and demonstrate
how the decision is made.

There are no policy documents specific to ABA provision.

Finally, please can you explain your rationale for awarding Applied
Behavioural Analysis without tribunal orders?

Decisions around provision are based on an individual assessment of a
particular child's needs.  The provision is likely to include elements
that are available to all children in Lancashire, elements that are
available to some children in Lancashire with similar needs and an
individualised element.

Please accept our apologies for the delay in providing you with a
response. In the event that you wish to complain about the manner in which
your enquiry has been handled, you should write in the first instance to
