Dear Equality Commission for Northern Ireland,

Why have you not replied to my FOI request within the time line. Specifically I requested details of age and gender statistics. Since employment monitoring forms record gender and date of birth of job applicants etc, it should be possible to supply these data.

Yours faithfully,

B Martin

Eoin ONeill, Equality Commission for Northern Ireland

Dear Mr Martin

I refer to your email of 28 March 2014 stating that the Equality
Commission had not responded to a FOI request within the ‘ time line’.
This is not correct.

You state that the  request related to age and gender statistics for the
workforce in Almac.

On 14 February I sent you an email giving the employee breakdown by gender
for Almac Sciences Ltd, Almac Pharma Services and Almac Clinical Services
Ltd.

On 25 February I sent you an email giving the gender breakdown for
applicants and appointees to Almac Sciences and advised you that the
monitoring return does not give information by age. On the same date under
separate email I referred you to the Fair Employment (Monitoring )
Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1999 which set out what information has to
be included in a monitoring return and that the prescribed information
does not include age. On 27 February  I further explained that the
monitoring return form submitted to the Commission is prepared by the
employer from information given by employees on monitoring questionnaires
issued by the employer. These questionnaires may or not contain
information on age and are not sent to the Commission and therefore the
Commission does not hold any information on age.

I consider that your FOI request has been dealt with fully and within the
statutory time limit.
